WAFCON 2025: Super Falcons coach names strong squad for Morocco

Super Falcons head coach Justine Madugu has named a 24-player squad for the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), with key stars including captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, Francisca Ordega, and six-time African Player of the Year Asisat Oshoala leading the charge.

The nine-time African champions began training in Abuja on Thursday and will continue through Saturday before departing for Lisbon, Portugal, on Sunday morning for the next phase of preparations.

In Lisbon, the Super Falcons will play two high-profile friendly matches against Portugal on Monday, 23rd June, and against Ghana’s Black Queens in Morocco on Saturday, June 29, as part of their build-up to the continental tournament.

The Super Falcons have been drawn in Group B alongside Tunisia, Botswana, and Algeria, with all group games to be played at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca.

Madugu’s squad blends experience with emerging talent as the Super Falcons aim to reclaim their continental crown in Morocco from July 5 to 26.
