On December 23, PC Grace with the assistance of PC Aaron arrested a violent male following an incident that began as a stop for a minor shoplifting offence in Eastleigh.
Police said the man attempted to evade officers, provided false details, and became violent during the arrest.
As a result, PC Grace and PC Aaron sustained minor injuries.
A spokesperson for Hampshire police said: “During the arrest, officers also located suspected Class A drugs on the male.
“Further enquires confirmed he was outstanding for failing to appear at court in relation to a serious offence.”
The man was arrested on suspicion of theft from a shop, possession of suspected Class A drugs and assault with intent to resist arrest.
The spokesperson added: “Thankfully, the officers involved are recovering and the male remains in custody.
“We would like to give our sincere thanks to Eastleigh Swan Centre security team with their assistance in restraining the male.”
