At 12.23pm, police were called to concerns for the welfare of a woman standing on the bridge.
Officers rushed to the scene to speak to the woman, who was then later taken to safety.
The incident comes as a celebrity hairstylist is launching a safety campaign to reduce the number of deaths on the bridge that links Southampton with Woolston.

Hairstylist Danny Carter, who has worked with celebrities such as Katie Price and Kerry Katona, is keen to stop suicides on the city’s largest bridge.
The 35-year-old said that after witnessing many concern for welfare incidents on the bridge, including some making the decision to jump into the water, he was encouraged to take a stand.
The hairstylist and TikTok content creator is currently raising money for his community project, Coffee Mate.
This will see the bridge manned by volunteers who are able to support anyone struggling with mental health concerns.
