The District 11 race for Atlanta City Council became a little more crowded over the weekend as Wayne Martin Jr. announced his bid for the seat.

Mentored by former Mayor Maynard Jackson, Martin is a Morehouse College graduate and business leader who is now president and CEO of Covenant Ministry, a nonprofit medical charity of Cathedral of Faith Church.

Martin joins previously declared candidates Andre Burgin, Steven Dingle, Nathan Jester, Reginald Rushin, and Sherry Williams to vie for the seat.

Dist. 11 is currently represented by Council member Marci Collier Overstreet, who has declared her candidacy for City Council President.
