Kyle Larson is one of the top drivers in NASCAR, but he’s still getting the hang of open-wheel cars.
Larson — a 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion — was racing in the 109th Indianapolis 500 on Sunday. (He was also scheduled to race in the Coca-Cola 600 in NASCAR in Charlotte, N.C., at 6 p.m. ET.)
After a restart on Lap 92 of the race, Larson’s car spun out of control, crashing into the outside wall on Turn 2 and wrecking with Kyffin Simpson. Fox analysts Townsend Bell and James Hinchcliffe noted Larson’s car skidded when he downshifted.
