Two MinRes directors resign

Date:

Mineral Resources has shocked the market by announcing that independent directors Jacqueline McGill and Susie Corlett have resigned from the board.

The departing directors comprised a majority of the board’s ethics and governance committee, which was established last year after a series of controversies at the company.

The only remaining member of that committee is its chair, Denise McComish.

The two resignations come ahead of the planned retirement of chairman James McClements and managing director Chris Ellison and cast doubt on future governance and leadership at the trouble-plagued company.

The resignations take effect immediately and leave the company with seven directors.

Ms Corlett joined the MinRes Board in January 2021 while Ms McGill joined in January 2024.

The company did not provide any explanation for their sudden departures.

In a brief statement, Mr McClements thanked them for their contribution.

“Susie and Jacqui have contributed an enormous amount to the MinRes Board over their respective tenures,” he said.

“Both Susie and Jacqui have dedicated substantial time and effort over recent months in our efforts to improve governance and procedures across the business, whilst navigating their significant other professional commitments.”

Ms Corlett continues as a director at Iluka Resources, Aurelia Metals and Silex Systems while Ms McGill continues as a director at Goldfields, New Hope Group, 29 Metals and the Royal Automobile Association of South Australia.

More to come…..
