Top graduating students who stole LASU’s 28th Convocation Spotlight

At the Lagos State University’s 28th Convocation ceremony, 12 first-degree graduating students emerged as the shining stars of the event, capturing admiration for their academic excellence as the overall best students from each faculty.

The one-week-long ceremony which commenced on Thursday, 3rd April to Thursday, April 10th, 2025, awarded the best-graduating students from each faculty among the 315 first-class graduates at the institution.

As the institution successfully conferred degrees upon 11,917 students under the leadership of Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, Vice Chancellor of LASU; Nwosu Isioma Sybil was announced as the overall best-graduating student for the 2023/2024 academic session.

The event was graced by the presence of Babajide Sanwo-Olu who was represented by Obafemi Hamzat to present a cash award of N10 million to Nwosu for emerging as the overall best-graduating student from the Biochemistry Department, with a CGPA of 4.93.

Nwosu Isioma Sybil (4.93 CGPA)

Isioma Sybil Nwosu from the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Science emerged as the overall best-graduating student of Lagos State University, LASU, for the 2023/2024 academic session with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.93.

In addition to being a biochemist, Nwosu is also a brand influencer, fashion model, and skilled data analyst. She specialises in working with large datasets, employing tools like Excel, SQL, and Power BI.

Nwankwo Deborah Nwadiuso (4.88 CGPA)

Nwankwo Deborah became the leading graduate from the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Science for the Lagos State University’s 2023/2024 academic session, with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.88.

Olatunji Afeez Taiwo (4.87 CGPA)

Olayunji Afeez was recognised as the best-graduating student from the Department of Foreign Language (Arabic), Faculty of Arts with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.88.

Emeka Soludo Favour (4.85 CGPA)

Emeke Soludo emerged as the best-graduating student from the Department of Finance, Faculty of Management Science with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.88.

Prior to this, he was an active member of the Investment Society, Lasu division, and director of Studies, Department of Finance, 2022/2023 as he currently pursues his career as a Financial Analyst.

Sanni Yusuf Babatunde (4.81 CGPA)

Sanni Yusuf was recognised as the best-graduating student from the Department of Economics Education, Faculty of Education with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.81.

Honoku Dolapo Esenidonu (4.79 CGPA)

Honoku Dolapo stood out as the best-graduating student from the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences for the Lagos State University’s 2023/2024 academic session, with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.79.

Alausa Lateefah Temitope (4.74 CGPA)

Alausa Lateefah emerged as the best-graduating student from the Department of Agricultural Economics, Faculty of Agriculture for the Lagos State University’s 2023/2024 academic session, with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.74.

Identifying as both a writer and baker, Alausa overcame significant challenges to achieve a remarkable milestone as the overall best-graduating student from LASU’s School of Agriculture.

Popoola Sinayo Olusegun (4.72 CGPA)

Popoola Sinayo stood out as the best-graduating student from the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.72.

It’s interesting to know that Popoola is a passionate Software Developer, primarily a Full-Stack Developer with expertise in Django and Node as backend frameworks and React as a frontend framework.

Kolawole Boluwatife Emmanuel (4.68 CGPA)

Kolawole Boluwatife rose to prominence as the best-graduating student from the Faculty of Law with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.68 for the 2023/2024 academic session.

Beyond his academic success in Law, Kolawole is a certified public speaker who served as the president of the LASU Debate Society in 2023 and he currently pursues his passion for corporate event hosting, media, and public relations.

Udoh Elsie Abidemi (4.65 CGPA)

Udoh Elsie Abidemi secured the position of the best-graduating student from the Department of Public Relations and Advertising, Faculty of Communications and Media Studies with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.68 for the 2023/2024 academic session.

Ayantunji Roseline Sikemi (4.53 CGPA)

Ayantunji Roseline distinguished herself as the best-graduating student from the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.53 for the 2023/2024 academic session.

Prior to this, she gained hands-on experience in developing strong skills in data management and laboratory testing, particularly in drug toxicity assessments during her internship at the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

Abiri Darlington Ogheneroro (4.08 CGPA)

Against all odds, Abiri Darlington emerged as the best-graduating student from the Faculty of Transport and Logistics for the Lagos State University’s 2023/2024 academic session, with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.08.
