The Love of God in Christ (LOGIC) Church is set to host first Good Friday music event
The Love of God in Christ (LOGIC) Church is set to host its first “Jesus + Nothing” Worship, a gospel music event centered on the theme of redemption through Jesus Christ. According to Apostle Flourish Peters, Lead Pastor of The LOGIC Church, this will be the first Good Friday gospel concert hosted in Lagos.
Set to take place today at 4 PM at the church’s headquarters in Lekki, Lagos, this hybrid event will welcome 2,000 in-person attendees at the venue while also streaming live on The LOGIC Church’s social media platforms, making it accessible to a global audience.
The worship session will feature a lineup of Nigerian gospel artists, including Victor Thompson, Timi Dakolo, Greatman Takit, Neon Adejo, SMJ, Noble G, Steve Hills, Lily Perez, Joxie, Anderson Qozan, Pastor Victor Paul, EmekaSongz, Flo, Dorcas Moore, Magpsalms, Mera Owili, Gerald Bishung, Phebe Lion, and the lively Evolution Children’s Choir.
Apostle Flourish Peters, Lead Pastor of The LOGIC Church, shared the vision behind this unique event, emphasising its focus on what he calls “lyrical theology”—using music to convey the unadulterated Gospel of God’s grace.
“The agenda of the gospel globally, what we wanted to do a little differently, was to target a Friday evening like this, where it’s Good Friday for some reason, to go home and sing about redemption songs,” Apostle Flourish explained. “The songs we’re looking at singing are about the blood of Jesus, about what Christ has done for us. I’m going to sing about redemption, taking the Gospel of God’s grace and putting it into songs.”
Apostle Flourish highlighted the enduring power of music, noting, “I can preach a message you’re likely to forget, but if it gets into a song, you’re not going to forget it. People will forget your message, but they’ll never forget a song. That’s how powerful the ministry of music is.”
He stressed the intentional selection of artists for the event who are members of his church, saying that the goal is to shape lives through music that reflects the love of God and the finished work of Christ on the cross through the message of God through his ministers
The event’s song selections will focus on themes of redemption, new creation in Christ, and God’s unconditional love. Pastor Flourish said, “We don’t have lots of songs like that—songs about the love of God and how Christ stayed on the cross not because of nails, but because of His love. Romans 5:8 says, ‘For God demonstrated His love towards us in that whilst we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.’ We want to hear songs about what happened for us through what happened to Him at the cross.”
For Pastor Flourish, the ultimate aim is salvation. “The agenda is to get Jesus to the hearts of men. It’s not to be popular or create a vibe or a buzz—though that would be nice. If people miss the agenda of Easter, this worship meeting will re-enact in their spirit, soul, and body the finished work on the cross,” he said.
In response to a suggestion about creating a playlist of the event’s songs for streaming platforms, Pastor Flourish was enthusiastic. “It’s something we can look into. I can discuss with the people. I don’t want to create a playlist without a concept, but that’s a fantastic thing,”* he admitted. *”We could do a playlist of just the songs for tonight. I’ll take that as a beautiful suggestion. With PVP, SMJ, Timi—who has a lot of experience with that—and everybody, we have a rich playlist we can take advantage of.”
This potential playlist would allow the event’s message to reach even further, extending its impact beyond the live gathering.
The “Jesus + Nothing” Worship is a prelude to the church’s annual “Jesus + Nothing Conference” in May, expected to draw 6,000 attendees. Today’s event promises to be a transformative experience, uniting worshippers both in-person and online to celebrate the redemptive power of Christ through song.
