Start date for new Hampshire chief constable revealed

Date:

Senior Met Police officer Alexis Boon will be joining Hampshire Constabulary next month.

His appointment comes after Scott Chilton stepped down from the top job amid an investigation regarding allegations he failed to disclose a relationship with a junior officer.

Mr Boon was appointed as the new chief constable last month by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police and Crime Panel.

Donna Jones, Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) proposed him as the new candidate.

Now, it has been confirmed he will start the role on August 4.

Deputy chief constable Sam de Reya said he will be “taking Hampshire Constabulary on the next steps of the journey”.

Mr Boon has vast experience, including as a national counter-terrorism commander and an international counter-terrorism commander.
