Southampton woman to pay back over £500 after shoplifting

Helen Marjorie Leahy, of Millbrook Road West, pleaded guilty to two counts of shoplifting at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on April 28.

This followed thefts from the One Stop shop on Portsmouth Road in Bursledon on February 15 and 20.

She was sentenced at the same court on June 27, where she received an 18-month community order with 25 rehabilitation activity requirement days.

Leahy has also been ordered to pay back a total of £520 in compensation.

A spokesperson for Hampshire police said: “If you are a shop owner or staff member, please continue to report any shopliftings to us.

“You can do this by calling 101, or by reporting online via the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary website.”
