Southampton OAP convicted of historic indecent assaults

Former merchant sailor Kenneth Gibb, 92, had faced two charges relating to an incident that occurred at the victim’s home in 2003.

Following a trial at Southampton Crown Court, Gibb was cleared of one count of indecent assault but convicted of the other.

The judge, Recorder Donald Tait, ordered a pre-sentence report and the case was adjourned until August 26.

Giving evidence on the first day of the trial, the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told the court: “I felt his hand on my belly then over my breasts, and I told him to stop.”

The woman said the ordeal made her want to “curl up and die”.

Gibb, of Butts Road, Southampton, said he went into her bedroom after she asked him to give her a cuddle and “talk dirty” to her, but he denied both the allegations against him.
