Morning Sports Update
The NFL Draft gets underway on April 24.

As the Patriots mock drafts turn: The countdown is on for the start of the 2025 NFL Draft, which gets underway in nine days (April 24) at 8 p.m.
The Patriots seem set to enter the draft holding the fourth overall pick, placing New England in what could potentially be a fascinating pivot point of the night. While a trade could theoretically happen, there remains a large chance that Eliot Wolf, Mike Vrabel, and the rest of the Patriots’ decision-makers simply make the pick.
To that end, a recent ESPN mock draft from Mel Kiper Jr. and Field Yates projects that LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell will be the player the Patriots pick fourth (it’s a scenario in which both Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter are picked before New England gets on the clock).
“I know a lot has been made of Campbell’s sub-33-inch arm length,” wrote Yates, “but he has the footwork and pop to stick at left tackle and keep Pats quarterback Drake Maye clean.”
Because the mock draft was done over multiple rounds, Kiper and Yates also projected additional Patriots picks. At the 38th pick, they have New England picking defensive tackle Kenneth Grant from Michigan. With the team’s next pick (a third-rounder), the Patriots chose wide receiver Kyle Williams from Washington State.
“Even after signing Stefon Diggs, the Patriots have to give quarterback Drake Maye more pass-catching options,” Yates noted. “Williams’s ability to accelerate to top speed really stands out.”
The team’s final selection of the mock, 77th overall, was used to pick another lineman, Wyatt Milum of West Virginia.
