Ladies in Sports International celebrates 10 years with landmark summit

Ladies in Sports International (LIS), a platform dedicated to empowering women in sports, has announced the date for its 10th anniversary summit. The two-day event aims to celebrate a decade of progress, purpose, and empowerment, taking place on June 12–13, 2025, at the Balmoral Event Centre in Oregun, Lagos.

Since its inception, LIS has been at the forefront of championing gender inclusion, capacity building, and increased visibility for women in sports across Nigeria and beyond.

The 2025 LIS Summit will highlight key achievements over the past ten years while setting an ambitious agenda for the future.

Tega Onojaife, founder of LIS, reflected on this significant milestone: “This 10th anniversary is not just a celebration; it’s a reaffirmation of our commitment to elevating women in sports. “We’ve created a movement, and this summit is about amplifying that impact for the next generation.”

Distinguished guests expected to attend include Nkechi Obi, Chairperson of the Nigerian Women’s Football League Board; Officials from the Nigerian Cricket Federation, and members of Nigeria’s historic U-19 Women’s Cricket Team.

Bridget Oyefeso-Odusami, head of marketing and communications at Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc, expressed her organisation’s pride in supporting the initiative: “At Stanbic IBTC, we are proud to celebrate a decade of impact through the Ladies in Sports International Summit. This initiative continues to drive vital conversations around equity, access, and excellence for women in sports, a mission we proudly support.”

Over the past ten years, LIS has empowered hundreds of women through comprehensive training, valuable exposure, and direct support, including awarding grants to over 20 promising female athletes. The summit remains a flagship platform for education, storytelling, and enhancing visibility in women’s sports.
