Juventus reignite fresh interest in Victor Osimhen

Date:

Serie A heavyweights Juventus have reignited their interest in Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, according to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, as the club intensifies preparations for the 2025 summer transfer window.

Osimhen, currently owned by Napoli, has emerged as the Bianconeri’s top attacking target, with Juventus officials reportedly resuming talks with the player’s representatives in the coming days. Despite previous speculation that Osimhen had turned down Juventus, Gazzetta insists the club’s interest remains strong and active.

However, Juventus face a major hurdle in its pursuit. Osimhen’s contract includes a €75 million release clause that applies only to clubs outside Serie A, meaning Juve must negotiate directly with Napoli, a scenario that could complicate any potential move within Italy.

Osimhen recently completed a stunning season on loan at Galatasaray, where he was the standout performer in the Turkish Süper Lig.

The 26-year-old former Lille forward topped the scoring charts with 26 league goals and added 11 more across other competitions, bringing his total tally to 37 goals in all competitions. His spectacular bicycle kick against Antalyaspor was crowned the 2024/25 Süper Lig Goal of the Season.

The Nigerian also claimed the Süper Lig Golden Boot and Best Player awards, playing a pivotal role in helping Galatasaray secure a domestic double. His consistency, explosive power, and match-winning performances have firmly re-established him as one of Europe’s elite strikers.

Earlier reports indicated that Osimhen rejected a lucrative €30 million-a-year offer from Saudi club Al-Hilal, signalling his clear intention to remain in Europe and compete at the highest level.

With Juventus eager to rebuild their squad under a new project, Osimhen is reportedly at the top of their shortlist ahead of Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres and Bologna’s Santiago Castro.
