“The Chuck Nowlin Morning Show” is debuting Monday.

iHeartMedia, the parent company of WZLX, abruptly dropped “The Rich Shertenlieb Show” on Nov. 4 as part of sweeping budget cuts at its stations nationwide. Rich Shertenlieb

It’s a new dawn at the classic rock station 100.7 WZLX. On Monday, “The Chuck Nowlin Morning Show” is taking over.

After decades in the afternoon slot, veteran radio personality Chuck Nowlin will move to mornings, teaming up with some familiar voices.

In a social media post, Danielle Murr, who previously co-hosted “The Greg Hill Show” on WEEI, announced she will co-host. Program Director Chris Tyler will join in.

“After the longest trainee program in the history of industry, I am moving from the afternoons to mornings starting Monday mornings at 6 a.m., with ‘The Chuck Nowlin Morning Show,’ with Danielle Murr,” said Nowlin in a promotional video.

“I’m honestly not sure how they dragged me back into this,” Murr added.

“I think it was money,” Nowlin said.

Murr responded, “It was not money,” drawing a laugh from Nowlin.

After five months of hosting the morning show, Kenny Young will move to the afternoon.

  • The reasons for Rich Shertenlieb’s show already getting the axe at WZLX are not complicated

The change-up comes after the radio station failed at a venture into sports talk in the mornings. Less than six months after Rich Shertenlieb’s show first aired, the station’s parent company, iHeart Radio, terminated the show following budget cuts and dismal ratings.

Shertenlieb, who left 98.5 The Sports Hub, was given freedom by iHeart to put together his show on the classic rock station, debuting “The Rich Shertenlieb Show” in May.

However, the new show never gained traction, even with changes made by management to add music.

“To say I’m disappointed is an understatement,” Shertenlieb wrote in a social media post in November, praising his cohosts and producer Kenny Young before concluding, “I LOVED the show. I loved our listeners. And I already miss you.”
