Fareham council to raise awareness about domestic abuse

Date:

The policy’s aim is to raise awareness about domestic abuse, and the council’s approach to dealing with it, as well as where people can find assistance.

It applies to all residents experiencing or at risk of experiencing domestic abuse, including the homeless.

The consultation period, during which residents can provide feedback on the policy, will run until August 29.

Councillor Joanne Burton, the executive member for health and public protection, said: “At Fareham Borough Council, the safety and security of all our residents is paramount.

“We believe that all forms of domestic violence are unacceptable, and we take every report of domestic violence extremely seriously.”

The council wants the policy to be clear and easy to understand for those who need future support.

Residents can have their say on the policy via a short survey and find other consultations on the Fareham Borough Council website.
