Police were called by a retailer in Eastleigh following reports of a theft.
After being given a description of the offender, the CCTV operator for the town centre managed to track a male by following him until patrolling police arrived to recover the goods.

A search then revealed that further items had been stolen by the 36-year-old man.
On social media, a post from police showed the man’s alleged haul, which contained blocks of Cathedral City cheddar cheese, several packets of different flavoured Skittles and Febreze air fresheners.
Kinder chocolate and Comfort softener also appeared to have been stolen.
A spokesperson for Hampshire police said: “Thanks again to our town centre CCTV operators who really are invaluable in situations like this.”
