Barcelona defender Jules Kounde is set to miss the Champions League semi-final second leg clash against Inter Milan after being diagnosed with a hamstring injury on Thursday.
The French right-back limped off during the thrilling 3-3 draw in the first leg on Wednesday, with the return fixture scheduled for next Tuesday at the San Siro.
“Tests carried out this morning have shown that first team player Jules Kounde has a hamstring injury in his left thigh,” Barcelona confirmed in a statement.
Although the club did not reveal a specific recovery timeline, Kounde is now a major doubt for the crucial La Liga Clasico against Real Madrid on May 11 and has been ruled out of Saturday’s league match against Real Valladolid.
Barcelona currently sit four points ahead of Real Madrid in the La Liga title race and are chasing a historic quadruple this season.
Eric Garcia replaced Kounde at right-back during the second half of the Inter Milan clash at the Olympic Stadium.
Kound, has made 53 appearances for Barcelona across all competitions this season.
