During a recent event, Akshay Kumar didn’t react to Paresh Rawal’s exit from Hera Pheri 3, but came to his defense on being called foolish by a journalist.
Hera Pheri franchise has been making headlines ever since actor Paresh Rawal made an unexpected exit. For the unversed, Paresh Rawal is still lauded for portraying the role of the fan-favourite character Baburao with perfection. The situation soon turned intense and resulted in a legal dispute.
During the trailer launch event of Housefull 5, Akshay Kumar was asked for his reaction to Paresh’s exit, and people referring to his co-star as “foolish” for his decision to turn down Hera Pheri 3. Akshay said, “Let me first tell you, using this kind of word, like foolish for my co-star, I would not appreciate that. That’s not right. We have worked with him for the last 35 years. We are very good friends, and he is a great actor. I admire him a lot. Jo bhi kuch hai (whatever it is), I don’t think this is a place to talk about this. Whatever has happened is a serious matter and it will handled by the court. So I don’t think I will speak about this.”
Amid the ongoing controversy, Paresh Rawal’s legal representatives had clarified that the actor had valid and legitimate concerns over the film’s level of preparedness. “We have replied to the notice, and Paresh Rawal’s termination is on strong legal footing. They did not deliver the story, screenplay or a draft of a long-form agreement, which was fundamental to the engagement of our client,” he said.
“In the absence of these and also since Mr Nadiadwala, the producer of the original films, issued notice to our client and raised issues on the making of the film, our client chose to exit and returned the money with interest by terminating the term sheet. First, they accepted the monies, but later, unfortunately, sent an untenable notice to our client when knowingly nothing was and is ready, so there can never be any loss,” he added.
