Popular Bollywood actor Aamir Khan recently opened up about online trolling he faced after the release of his much-anticipated film Laal Singh Chaddha. In a candid interview, Aamir Khan said that while the trolling hurts, it doesn’t affect a film’s success. The Bollywood actor is currently looking forward to the release of his highly anticipated film Sitaare Zameen Par.

In a recent interview with the Times of India, Aamir Khan addressed the emotional toll of being trolled and drew a clear line between criticism and trolling. The PK-famed actor spoke about the box office failure of his previous film, Laal Singh Chaddha, which was an adaptation of the popular Hollywood film Forrest Gump. According to Aamir Khan, trolls are not genuine viewers but people with agendas who feed off negativity. The Dangal star also made it clear that trolling has no impact on a film’s box office success. He said, “If a film is good, no one in the world can stop it from working. And if it’s not, no one can make it a hit either.”

While taking the example of his latest film, Laal Singh Chaddha, which faced intense backlash online and failed at the box office, Aamir Khan said, “People say it didn’t work because of the trolling. That’s not true. If 3 Idiots had released in the same atmosphere of negativity, do you think it would’ve failed? No chance. That film worked because it was made well. Same with Dangal. Even if that had been trolled, it still would’ve been a superhit. Because content is king.”

The actor slammed the trolls and said in reality, it actually feels bad because immense effort, months, hard work goes into making a film. “Then someone, who hasn’t even seen the film or understands the context, decides to say something purely negative. That’s what trolling really is. It’s not feedback. It’s not criticism. It’s just negativity for the sake of it.”
