1. Dennis Dean Catering to preserve Retzleff’s legacy under new ownership
π₯ Following the death of culinary powerhouse Dennis Retzleff, Annie Duncan and Adam Shoemaker are preserving his legacy as the new owners of Dennis Dean Catering.
The takeover by Duncan and Shoemaker, the companyβs general manager and director of sales, respectively, had been in the works for several months prior to Retzleffβs death due to his worsening illness.
The duo plans to maintain this consistency and continue the business with Retzleffβs memory at the forefront with no changes to how the catering company is run.

2. That’s what she said: Embracing senior status at 55
π§ βI turned 55 today and would like to sign up.β
Thatβs what Georgia Voice columnist Melissa Carter told the receptionist at the front desk of her local senior center last month. She learned that the minimum age to join was 55, and she hit the ground running on that birthday.
Carter is not ashamed to say she joined the senior center, since she’s never adhered to ageism in her life. However, she does get odd looks from friends, especially younger ones, surprised that she voluntarily placed herself within that grouping.

3. MARTA’s first bus rapid transit line won’t open this year
π MARTAβs first bus rapid transit line (BRT) connecting Downtown Atlanta to Summerhill, Peoplestown, and the Atlanta Beltlineβs Southside Trail wonβt open this year due to unexpected discoveries during the construction process.
According to MARTA, construction crews on the Rapid A-Line have been hampered by the discovery of old streetcar tracks buried under the roadway.
Even more surprising was the discovery of a forgotten underground parking garage along Forsyth Street. MARTA officials said the garage area, which was earmarked for utility needs, wasnβt on any maps or blueprints.
