Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service received more than 20 calls after smoke began billowing from a green space in the New Forest on Saturday, June 28.
The blaze took hold near to Hatchet Pond off Beaulieu Road. Forestry England and firefighters have now issued safety advice for residents during the extreme heat.
A fire service spokesperson said: “On-call firefighters from across the New Forest tackled a large gorse and heath fire in East Boldre on Saturday afternoon.
“Crews from Beaulieu, Hythe, Lymington were supported specialist vehicles from Ringwood, Hardley, Lyndhurst and Eastleigh at the incident near Hatchet Pond off Beaulieu Road, after around 20 emergency calls were made into the HIWFRS Control Room.
“The wind driven fire affected a large 225m by 100m area.
“Hose reels, jets and beaters were used to contain and stop the blaze before firefighters dampened down the scene.
“HIWFRS left the scene following the stop message at 16:28.”

The cause of this blaze is so unclear but Forestry England have taken to social media to warn residents that starting campfires and BBQs during the extreme heat can cause uncontrollable gorse fires.
A spokesperson for Forestry England said: “While we continue to enjoy this warm and dry weather we’d like to remind everyone to please be fire safety aware in the New Forest.
“Unfortunately, on Saturday there was a fire close to Beaulieu Heath car park.
“Thanks to the fire service’s speedy response it was quickly brought under control but around a hectare of forest rich in wildlife was damaged.
“In a separate incident our rangers also issued a fixed penalty notice to a group who had lit a campfire on the Forest.
“Please remember that BBQs, campfires and the use of any outdoor cooking equipment is banned in the New Forest and a fineable offence.”
