Daniel Bwala, special adviser to the president on policy communication, has described Tunde Bakare’s recent critique of the Bola Tinubu administration as balanced and reflective.
Bakare, who leads The Citadel Global Community Church, delivered a state of the nation address in Lagos on Sunday, urging President Tinubu to heed counsel and adopt a structured approach to resolving Nigeria’s ongoing challenges.
He pointed to a lack of leadership humility and described recent developments in the country as indicative of growing authoritarianism.
His remarks followed a surge in violent attacks and kidnappings across the country, particularly in Plateau and Benue states.

In response, Bwala on his X account on Sunday said the cleric presented a broad view of government policies, acknowledging both achievements and shortcomings.
He noted that Bakare’s message included constructive recommendations for national progress and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to fulfilling its promises to Nigerians.
“Pastor Tunde Bakere @T_Bakare ‘s sermon and speech delivered this morning in form of a message to @officialABAT is quite objective.
“He gave his general opinion on events and decisions of government; He critiqued certain polities and applauded some ; he further offered his suggestions on the way forward. Importantly, he acknowledged the successes and strides of the President and his administration.
“Although we differ with him in some areas and positions, but we respect his right to say his mind, and assure him as with many Nigerians that President Tinubu is determined to deliver on the promise to the Nigerian people.”
