Over 10 caravans have pitched up at Eling Recreation Ground, the field next to Totton Bypass.
The space is home to an outdoor gym, a water park, a play area and a youth centre.

A spokesperson for Hampshire police said: “An unauthorised encampment at this location was reported at about 4.45pm today. Enquiries are ongoing with the local authority.”
Councillor Neville Penman also confirmed to the Echo that Totton and Eling Council, which is responsible for the recreational ground, has been made aware of the situation.
The county councillor for Totton North & Netley Marsh also said that officers from the council have been up to the site this evening.
On Facebook, Councillor Richard Young said: “I have proactively liaised with both the Parish Chairman and Clerk and been assured that all reasonable and proportionate measures to secure Marchwood’s public open spaces have been taken Totton and Eling Town Council are aware of this unauthorised encampment upon public open space under their control.”
