As many as 10 police cars were seen in the area as residents took to social media in an attempt to find out why police were called.

Hampshire Constabulary have now confirmed that at approximately 9pm last night (Friday, May 30) officers on patrol in Hurstbourne Place in Weston conducted a stop and search of a man in his 30s.

Police found a small quantity of spice – a Class B drug – before issuing the man, who is from Southampton, a community resolution order.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: “At 9pm on Friday 30 May, officers on patrol on Hurstbourne Place stopped and searched a man in his 30s from Southampton.

“Officers located a small amount of spice (Class B drug) and he was issued a community resolution order.”
