Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan shared screen space with Govinda in 1998 and the two won hearts with their comedy entertainer, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. The film was inspired by Will Smith and Martin Lawrence’s Bad Boys.

Govinda and Amitabh Bachchan starrer was directed by David Dhawan and the actors played double roles in the film. Govinda has appeared on comedian Kapil Sharma’s show – The Kapil Sharma Show and revealed that he was not keen to do this film.
Amitabh Bachchan saved the film
In the mid-90s, the actor lost his dear ones and their deaths affected him and he was not ready to headline a comedy film. When David narrated the script to Govinda, he rejected it.
Convinced Govinda
But, later Amitabh Bachchan, who reportedly went to Govinda’s house and convinced him to do this film. Govinda felt emotional after Bachchan came to his home and offered him this film.
Govinda shared concerns
The actor shared his concerns with Bachchan and said that he is infamously known for arriving late on the sets. Govinda did not want Bachchan’s time, and the shoot would get affected because of him.
Clashed with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
But, Big B assured Govinda that the shooting would go smoothly. Did you know, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan was released on October 16, 1998 and clashed with Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, and Kajol’s Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
Box office collection
Despite the clash, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan was a blockbuster and it was made on a budget of Rs 10 crores. The film earned Rs 32.95 crores in India and Rs 2.19 crores overseas.
Fourth highest-grossing film
The worldwide gross was around Rs 35.14 crores. Bade Miyan Chote Miyan became the fourth highest-grossing Bollywood film of 1998.
Film stars
The film was produced by Vashu Bhagnani under Pooja Entertainment and starred Raveena Tandon, Ramya Krishnan, Anupam Kher, Paresh Rawal, Sharat Saxena and Satish Kaushik in pivotal roles.
