The Portland Trailblazers missed the NBA playoffs for the fourth straight season under head coach Chauncey Billups, but after jumping from 21 to 36 wins in the stacked Western Conference has earned a few more years at the helm.
With a number of openings around The Associate this offseason, the Blazers retained Billups’ services by picking up his option for next season and extending him through the 2027-28 campaign. Billups’ overall record as the head coach in Portland isn’t sparkling, but he had to deal with the transition out of the Damian Lillard era in the Pacific Northwest and oversaw one of the most signifcant team improvments from 2023-24.
