J.J. Spaun entered the final round of the U.S. Open at Oakmont -3 and tied for second on the leader board. Despite starting with five bogeys through the first six holes and having to wait out a rain delay in the middle of his round, Spaun lifted the U.S. Open Trophy after nailing a 65-foot putt to birdie 18 and finish the tournament as the only player in the field under par.
