Boston Marathon
Mayor Michelle Wu said the four showed “their determination and grit in the marathon known around the world.”

Four Boston residents who completed the 2025 Boston Marathon last week are being recognized for being the fastest Bostonians in the race.
For their quick times in the 129th Boston Marathon, Erik Linden of Beacon Hill, Jacqueline Gaughan of Beacon Hill, Danielle Bishop of Allston, and Jason Fowler of South Boston are being recognized with the third annual Fastest Bostonian awards, the city announced Monday.
“The theme for the 129th Boston Marathon presented by Bank of America was ‘Meet the Moment’ and these four outstanding Bostonians certainly did that,” Jack Fleming, president and CEO of the Boston Athletic Association, said in a statement. “Representing themselves and the City of Boston in our marathon of the same name, we congratulate them on their efforts as we know their achievements inspire others in the City. We celebrate them in their hometown marathon.”
Linden, a 25-year-old data scientist and Boston College graduate, finished his first Boston Marathon last week in 2:21:25, claiming the top spot as the fastest Boston man running the course. Gaughan, a 25-year-old who works in finance, finished the race in 2:32:07, becoming the fastest Boston woman in the race.
This isn’t the first time Bishop has claimed the title of Fastest Bostonian. Last week was the 30-year-old’s eighth Boston Marathon, which they finished in 3:42:14 claiming the top spot among non-binary city residents running the course. Bishop was a recipient of the Fastest Bostonian award in its inaugural year.
This is the first time a Fastest Bostonian award is being presented to the fastest man in the wheelchair division. Fowler, 51, has competed in the marathon 21 times, according to the city. This year, with a finishing time of 2:00:43, he is being awarded the title of Fastest Bostonian for his division.
No women from Boston competed in the wheelchair division this year, according to the city.
“Congratulations to everyone who competed in one of Boston’s most treasured traditions and represented our communities. I am especially proud to recognize Erik Linden, Jacqueline Gaughan, Jason Fowler, and Danielle Bishop as this year’s Fastest Bostonians, showing their determination and grit in the marathon known around the world,” Mayor Michelle Wu said in a statement. “Thank you to the B.A.A for their continued partnership and continuing this great tradition in our city.”
The four athletes will be celebrated at a reception in the coming weeks and will each be presented with a commemorative glass bowl engraved with the phrase “Fastest Bostonian,” according to the city.
