The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has commissioned a Utility Building at the Permanent Site of the Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi (FUTIA), Akwa Ibom State.
The Utility Building, a 2022 TETFund Annual Intervention Project, is the first building constructed and completed according to specification and commissioned for usage at the Permanent Site of FUTIA, established in June 2021.
The building was commissioned on Monday 26th May 2025 by the TETFund Board of Trustee Member representing South South Geo-political Zone, Hon. Aboh Uduyok, on behalf of TETFund.
Receiving the TETFund Board of Trustee Member representing South South Geo-political Zone and his delegation at the Takeoff Campus of the University, the Vice Chancellor of FUTIA, Prof. Leo Daniel, lauded them on behalf of the Governing Council, Management, Staff, Students and the University Community, and commended their interventions in various thematic areas in Tertiary Institutions across the country.
The Vice Chancellor particularly appreciated the Federal Government for using TETFund as a special purpose vehicle to drive infrastructural development in Nigerian Institutions.
Daniel who is a Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics extolled the Executive Secretary of the Fund, Arc. Sonny Echono, for his strategic leadership and appealed for assistance in the construction of perimeter fence and access roads at the Permanent Site of the University.
Speaking, Hon. Aboh Uduyok, said the familiarisation visit to FUTIA and other beneficiary Institutions in the region was an initiative of the Fund, to inspect ongoing TETFund Projects, including content-based interventions, monitor progress and gather firsthand information on challenges, if any.
Uduyok lauded the Management of FUTIA for ensuring close supervision of the Projects and commended the contractor whose Project was completed for quality and timely delivery.
He urged contractors handling other projects on the campus to ensure quality and timely completion.
In a vote of thanks, the Registrar of FUTIA, Mrs. Offiongita Nkang, expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arc. Sonny Echono and others for the various interventions undertaken in the University.
Nkang, appreciated the TETFund Board of Trustee Member representing South-South Geo-political Zone, Aboh Uduyok and the delegation for the familiarization visit and commissioning of the project.
The Registrar appreciated the Management of Good Works Associated Services Limited, for the timely delivery of the Utility Building and praised the host communities of the University for providing a peaceful environment for development and academic activities.
