Date:

Taylor Swift has been dragged into the ongoing It Ends With Us legal drama.

Multiple outlets report the pop star has been subpoenaed as a witness in the legal battle between close friend Blake Lively and co-star and director, Justin Baldoni.

According to Deadline, Baldoni’s lawyer Bryan Freedman issued the subpoena earlier this week.

In a statement obtained by outlets including People and Deadline, a representative for Swift claimed the subpoena was to “draw public interest” for the case.

“Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history,” the rep said, referring to her record-breaking Eras Tour.

The rep claimed her “connection” to the movie “was permitting the use of one song”.

Swift’s song, My Tears Ricochet, from her 2020 album Folklore, features in the film.

“Given that her involvement was licencing a song for the film, which 19 other artists also did, this document subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift’s name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case.”

Swift has been close friends with Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds for around a decade.

Lively stars in the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s book, It Ends With Us, which Baldoni both starred in and directed.

Months after the film’s release, Lively filed a complaint against Baldoni in December 2024, accusing him of sexual harassment and an alleged smear campaign against her.
