A Brockton middle school student was reportedly stabbed by a classmate on Wednesday afternoon.
The incident happened during school dismissal outside Joseph Plouffe Middle School, WCVB reports.
Jordan Mayblum, a school spokesperson, told the station the suspect in the slashing was absent from school on Wednesday but returned to the building during dismissal, allegedly getting into a physical altercation with the victim. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening.
The student with the blade is in police custody, according to WCVB.
Mayblum told The Brockton Enterprise the district is working with Brockton police to “determine the facts surrounding this incident.”
“We are confident that there is no ongoing threat to school safety,” Mayblum said.
