With road temperatures expected to fall below freezing overnight, gritters will be out from 5 pm tonight, December 26, treating priority routes across Southampton.
Drivers are being urged to take extra care in the wintry conditions and to allow more time for journeys.
A spokesperson for Southampton City Council said: “Due to below zero road temperatures predicted overnight, our gritters will be out from 5 pm, December 26 treating priority routes.
“Please plan your journey and take care in the wintery conditions.”
According to the Met Office forecast, clear spells tonight are expected to lead to frost forming in many areas, with temperatures dropping to around 1 °C.
