LOWELL, MASS. (WHDH) – Emergency crews have resumed their search for a 4-year-old boy who went missing near the Merrimack River in Lowell on Saturday, sources tell 7NEWS.

The boy was last seen playing in the area before he wandered off.

Police officers and firefighters could be seen working in the area late Saturday but have since returned to the area. A dive team went into the water around 10 a.m. and are now searching the area for the boy.

Family members of the little boy say they saw the little boy running toward the river and tried to grab him but he went into the water. They immediately called for help but he has not yet been found.
