Ibibia Worika, secretary to state government, representing the sole administrator, inspects guard of honour of the NYSC members

Members of the 2025 Batch A Stream I members National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to Rivers State have been urged to embrace selfless and dedicated service.

Ibok-Ete Ibas, a retired vice admiral and sole administrator of Rivers State, who made the appeal said it was the only way to meet the expectations of the host communities and the Rivers people.

The charge was given Tuesday, May 13, 2025, during the closing ceremony of the three-week orientation course held at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Nonwa-Gbam, Tai in Tai Local Council Area.

Represented by Ibibia Lucky Worika, the Secretary to the State Government and Chairman of the NYSC State Governing Board, the Sole Administrator urged the Corps members to uphold the highest standards of responsibility and patriotism throughout their service year.

He said their service was an opportunity to leave lasting legacies in their host communities. “Approach your assignments with commitment, innovation, and a genuine desire to make a difference,” he stated.

He further assured the corps members of the hospitality and goodwill of the people of Rivers State, encouraging them to integrate and contribute meaningfully to the state’s development.

Earlier in his remarks, Moses Oleghe, the Rivers State NYSC Coordinator, commended the corps members for their outstanding performance during the orientation course, despite the challenges of regimented camp life.

He expressed confidence in their readiness to excel in the next phase of the NYSC programme, where they would be deployed to critical sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, and rural infrastructure.

Oleghe also appealed to stakeholders, community leaders, and corps employers to provide them with conducive accommodation and welfare packages to enhance their productivity. “When corps members are well-supported, they perform optimally, and the entire society benefits from their contributions,” he emphasized.

The ceremony marked the successful completion of the orientation course, with corps members now set to proceed to their places of primary assignment across Rivers State.
