Serie A postpones all fixtures following death of Pope Francis

All four Serie A matches scheduled for Easter Monday have been postponed following the death of Pope Francis.

The Pope’s death, at the age of 88, came a day after he appeared in St Peter’s Square on Easter Sunday to bless thousands of worshippers.

In response, the governing body that oversees Italian top-flight football said four fixtures – Torino vs. Udinese, Cagliari vs. Fiorentina, Genoa vs. Lazio, and Parma vs. Juventus, had been postponed and would be rearranged in due course.

Several Serie A clubs have posted tributes to the Pope following his passing.

“Roma join in mourning the passing of Pope Francis, a loss that deeply saddens our city and the entire world,” Roma said in a statement.
