Sometimes no matter what you do, you just can’t escape your past.
It’s been 28 years now since Ryan Phillippe starred in the cult favourite horror flick, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and there’s one scene that still haunts him to this day.
Speaking with Variety, Phillippe shared that almost three decades since the films release, he is still asked about the scene where he shows his naked butt.

“I’ve heard about that for so many years now,” he said.
“It could be worse.”
I Know What You Did Last Summer also starred Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr and Sarah Michelle Gellar and was both a commercial and critical success.
Now, almost 30 years later, the film is getting a reboot.

”It’s cool to see that those films, those projects have endured – that had the impact culturally that they did – that they would want to revisit them,” he said.
“It definitely makes you feel like a dinosaur or aware of your age, but at the same time, it’s a compliment to something that you were a part of that succeeded.”

These stars returned to their iconic movie roles years later
The reboot features a new cast including Outer Banks’ Madelyn Cline and The Summer Turned Pretty‘s Lola Tung, along with returning cast members Prinze and Hewitt.
But – spoiler warning for the 1997 film – since Phillippe’s character Barry Cox didn’t live to see the end of the film, the actor won’t be returning for the sequel, much to his dismay.

“I feel like I made the wrong move dying in all of these projects because then when they’re resurrected, I don’t get to be a part of them,” the actor shared
“I used to think it was cool, I’m like, ‘If I could take a character to their last moment.’
“Now, I’m like, ‘What are you thinking? No, you want to live in case there’s more movies to be made’.”
