Police have been chasing the “fully naked” man at the centre. He was “running round the sports centre with the police trying to get him” after he jumped into gardens.
One woman, 30, told the Echo: “We were going for a dog walk and saw police and security looking around near the back gardens that back onto the field (I believe the road near jacks corner park).
“We then saw a police officer running in someone’s back garden and assumed kids mucking about, five minutes later we heard shouting so looked to see what was going on and the man was running out of the bush – I assume he’d come back over from someone’s garden and he started running in between and around the cricket pitches.
“There was only one officer and this point. He then started running further down near the tennis courts shouting and more police came.”
She added: “We didn’t see more we ran home because we were scared he looked like he was threatening the police officer.”
