“Our hearts are with you. We all are affected.”

Red Sox legend Pedro Martinez shared on social media Tuesday that several of his family members are missing after the roof of a nightclub collapsed in the Dominican Republic early Tuesday morning.
“We are all affected,” Martinez said in a video posted to his Instagram account on Tuesday night. “I still have family members who are still in the rubbles and we don’t know what happened to them.
“But we just want to be strong, like we have always been. We’re a country that prays a lot and remains united all the time, so I just hope everybody has the same courage.”
According to the Associated Press, at least 124 people were killed and hundreds more injured when the roof of the Jet Set club collapsed early Tuesday in the Dominican Republic’s capital city of Santo Domingo.
It’s unclear who from Martinez’s family is missing. Authorities confirmed to the AP that former major league pitcher Octavio Dotel and former MLB infielder Tony Blanco were among the dead.
Nelsy Cruz — the governor of the Monte Cristi province in the country and sister of seven-time MLB All-Star Nelson Cruz — was also killed in the rooftop collapse.
“It is with a heavy heart that it is my turn to actually send condolences to all our family members and the people here in the United States who have family over there,” Martinez added. “We’re all sad. We’re all affected by the tragedy. … Our hearts are with you. We all are affected.”
The Red Sox released a message of support to the Dominican Republic on social media Wednesday evening.
