The Patriots selected Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson with the 38th overall pick in the NFL Draft on Friday.

Henderson, a 5-foot-10-inch, 202-pound force originally from Virginia, led the Big Ten with 7.1 yards per carry a season ago. He racked up more than 1,000 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground in 2024.

Henderson has a 92.5 Pro Football Focus grade since 2023, which is first among Big Ten running backs. He hasn’t fumbled since his freshman year and hit a maximum of 22 miles per hour last year – just three NFL ball-carriers reached that number a season ago.

The sixth member of the national champion Buckeyes to hear his name called, Henderson registered a 4.43-second 40-yard dash, 38.5-inch vertical jump, and 10-foot, 8-inch broad jump at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

ESPN analysts raved about Henderson, noting that offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels “will get a lot” out of a player like him. They highlighted his pass-blocking ability and versatility to complement Rhamondre Stevenson.

“That’s the kind of fire and ice, lightning and thunder you want,” Louis Riddick said.
