Parent reveals she’ll take her child out of school for holiday

Date:

My child is three and this is not currently posing an issue for me, however when she is in school in just over a year I will absolutely be taking her out during term time.

My husband and I both work full time, but still could barely afford to take her out during the term, let alone the summer holidays.

I find it curious the council says: “We work closely with schools and families to understand the root cause of serious attendance issues and to identify appropriate support and solutions.”

Well, I can save you the hassle of further investigation by providing you the leading reason. Holidays are too dear in school holidays.

Taking my child out for a week to enjoy quality, undivided family time with her mum and dad is more important than learning shapes when she’s in primary school.

I can’t think of any of my friends who went on holiday during term time, missed learning what a cloud was, and is now bamboozled by weather. Get a grip.

GCSE years I completely understand. But a small percentage of time off with their parents who can’t afford not to work full time because of the lack of affordable housing (don’t get me started on that) is hardly a criminal matter. More a necessity for family life.
