The closure, scheduled for June 9, will affect the section of Drift Road between its junction with Military Road and its termination.
It will be in place from 9am to 5pm.
The works are being carried out by Sunbelt Rentals Ltd, who will be excavating and laying new ducts across the carriageway.
Although the order allows for the closure to last up to six months, the council has confirmed that the work is expected to be completed in a single day.
No alternative route has been provided.

Sunbelt Rentals Ltd has stated that reasonable facilities will be provided to allow access to adjacent premises during the works.
The company has also confirmed that notice will be given to those directly affected.
