Oasis Academy Lord’s Hill students enjoy media workshop

The year 10 pupils from Oasis Academy Lord’s Hill took part in a creative session at Southampton College on June 11.

The workshop introduced students to media production and offered a glimpse into future study and career options in the industry.

Jeff A’hern, creative media course lecturer at Southampton College, said: “It was a pleasure to host the students from Oasis Academy Lord’s Hill.

The workshop gave students practical experience with industry-standard equipment and introduced them to the creative and technical aspects of media production.

Gabrielle Holloway, curriculum leader of performing arts at Oasis Academy Lord’s Hill, said: “This opportunity gave our year 10s valuable hands-on experience of using professional film and TV equipment.

“It was such a thrill to see them all grasp the session with both hands and truly consider a future career in media.”

The academy says it is committed to providing students with a wide range of opportunities that support their personal and academic development.

Ms Holloway said: “At Oasis Academy Lord’s Hill, we understand the importance of providing our students with as many positive opportunities as possible; showcasing where further education in Southampton could take them.

“This all works towards providing every one of our students with a fully inclusive, holistic education, giving them everything they need to remain proud, kind and determined to thrive in and out of school.

“We sincerely thank Southampton College for providing our young people with this incredible opportunity.”

Oasis Academy Lord’s Hill is part of the Oasis Community Learning multi-academy trust, which runs 54 schools across the UK.
