New Forest police arrest court-dodger in Fordingbridge

Date:

Officers from the Fordingbridge Neighbourhood Policing Team started their day on Friday by arresting a man who failed to appear in court for driving offences.

He was taken into custody to await the next available court session.

Officers then assisted colleagues from Hampshire in locating a vulnerable child in the Bournemouth area, ensuring the child was safely returned to a secure location.

Later, the team responded to a report of a van involved in a rural burglary.

The van, which was untaxed, “smelled strongly” of cannabis, and contained a second set of number plates from a previously stolen vehicle, was seized.

The passenger of the van was detained, and the New Forest Priority Crime Team has taken over the investigation.

The team also appealed to the public for help in identifying the owner of a stolen milk churn, chainsaw, and strimmer’s found in the van.

They urged everyone to record serial numbers of their belongings to make it easier to return stolen items.

During Friday, officers also attended a car park on Smugglers Road after nearly 50 bags and boxes of cannabis waste were fly-tipped.

They are seeking information to help identify those involved in cannabis cultivation.

Information can be shared with the local policing team on 101 or with Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800555111.
