The new property will be built on D Street, adjacent to the Element and Aloft hotels near the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.
Developers plan to build a new hotel in the Seaport district, according to a letter of intent released by the City of Boston Planning Department.
In the letter dated March 13, DGH Hotel Partners said through an attorney that the hotel will be 15 stories and have 438 rooms, encompassing a total of 160,000 square feet. It will be built at the location of the current Element and Aloft hotels on D St., steps away from the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC).
The 5.6-acre site includes a surface parking lot that will be utilized for the new hotel’s parking needs. The plan also includes 20 additional rooms at the adjacent Element and Aloft hotels, which DGH also runs, bringing the total number of rooms up to 530.
“The new hotel development will enhance and integrate with the existing hospitality uses at the project site, with improved pedestrian connectivity for its adjacency to the Element and the Aloft,” the letter said.
Developers said the project will contribute to the convention center’s continued growth and vibrancy while providing a neighborhood amenity for local hospitality and new job creation.
