The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Eti-Osa Branch, also known as The Coastline Bar, has flagged off its maiden Law Week, holding from Friday, 25th April to Tuesday, 29th April 2025 at the Conference Centre, Naval Dockyard, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Themed “Bridging Tradition and Innovation in Law: Advancing Rights, Ethics, and Technology,” this first-of-its-kind event is a timely response to Nigeria’s fast-evolving legal and business landscape.
At a time when technology reshapes industries at an unprecedented pace, the legal profession must adapt, not by abandoning its rich traditions, but by bridging them with the innovations needed to protect rights, uphold ethics, and empower enterprise.
The 2025 NBA Eti-Osa Law Week is not just symbolic because it is the branch’s inaugural edition; it also represents a bold commitment to preparing legal practitioners for the realities of a digitally driven economy.
For local businesses, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and startups that are increasingly reliant on tech, fintech, data, and new business models, a legal system that understands and supports innovation is critical for growth and sustainability.
The week-long activities reflect a thoughtful balance between tradition, civic duty, and forward-looking discourse:
Day 1 (April 25): The event begins with a Jumat Service at Lekki Central Mosque.
Day 2 (April 26): A Health Walk and Awareness Campaign held from Addo Road to VGC, followed by a CSR/Sensitisation Programme at Ajah Under Bridge, underlining the branch’s commitment to community engagement.
Day 3 (April 27): Members gather for a Thanksgiving Service at RCCG Pillar of the Truth, Badore, Lagos.
Day 4 (April 28): A landmark day featuring an Opening Ceremony conducted by the Hon. Chief Judge of Lagos State, a Keynote Lecture delivered by Muiz Banire in honour of Hon. Justice Kazeem Olanrewaju Alogba and Abiodun Owonikoko SAN, and a series of robust panel sessions on:
- The Rise of AI in Legal Practice
- Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Laws
- The Role of Technology in Access to Justice
Day 5 (April 29): The week will conclude with a Security Summit moderated by Chukwuka Ikwuazom SAN, culminating in a prestigious Law Dinner and Special Award Night, with a dinner lecture by Babatunde Ajibade SAN.
By focusing on both age-old values and emerging technologies, the NBA Eti-Osa Branch’s first Law Week is setting a benchmark for how the legal profession can not only remain relevant but also drive the growth of a resilient, ethically anchored, and innovation-ready Nigeria.
For businesses navigating the uncertainties of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, this is a signal that the legal frameworks they rely on are also evolving to meet tomorrow’s challenges.
The Coastline Bar invites all legal practitioners, stakeholders, entrepreneurs, and the wider community to join this historic celebration of knowledge-sharing, innovation, and professional advancement.
