National Assembly shifts plenary resumption to May 6

The National Assembly has announced a shift in the resumption date for its plenary sessions, extending it from Tuesday, April 29, to Tuesday, May 6, 2025.

This was disclosed in a notice issued on Monday by Kamoru Ogunlana, Clerk to the National Assembly.

According to the notice, the extension is to enable lawmakers to participate in the annual Workers’ Day celebration on May 1 and attend to engagements in their respective constituencies.

“I am directed to inform Distinguished Senators, Honourable Members, and the general public that the two Houses of the National Assembly have extended the date for the resumption of plenary sessions from Tuesday, 29th April 2025, to Tuesday, 6th May 2025,” Ogunlana stated.

He added, “This extension allows Distinguished Senators and Honourable Members to participate in the Workers’ Day ceremony and attend to other engagements in their constituencies.”

The Clerk urged lawmakers and the public to take note of the new date and apologized for any inconvenience caused by the change.

“Distinguished Senators, Honourable Members, and the general public are invited to take note of the new resumption date. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding,” the statement read.

Both chambers of the National Assembly had on March 27 adjourned plenary until April 29 to go on the Salah, Easter breaks.
