An undefeated run. A dominant final. A championship well earned.

The USA Women secured a 92–84 victory over Brazil in the championship game of the 2025 FIBA AmeriCup on Sunday.

Vanderbilt’s Mikayla Blakes delivered a standout performance, finishing with 27 points, six rebounds, two steals and one block on 45.8 percent shooting from the field as Team USA clinched the AmeriCup title in Santiago, Chile.

Notre Dame’s Hannah Hidalgo contributed 16 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals, while teammate Olivia Miles added eight points and dished out nine assists. South Carolina’s Joyce Edwards chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds to help seal the victory.

The United States remained unbeaten throughout the FIBA AmeriCup, dominating Group B and advancing directly to bracket play without needing to enter classification rounds. They opened the knockout stage with a commanding 110–44 win over the Dominican Republic in the quarterfinals.

In Saturday’s semifinal, Team USA overcame a shaky first half, trailing by three at halftime against Canada. But they responded with a statement second half, locking down defensively and holding Canada to just five points in the final quarter to secure a 65–53 win and a trip to the finals.

Fans flooded social media with excitement to celebrate Blakes and Team USA as they hoisted the AmeriCup and celebrated their championship victory on Sunday.

Blakes caught fire in the first half, scoring 18 of Team USA’s 45 points as the rest of the squad struggled to find an offensive rhythm, shooting just 36.8 percent from the field. Madison Booker followed with five points, while four other players chipped in four each to help keep the U.S. within striking distance.

Starters Joyce Edwards, Olivia Miles and Raegan Beers were largely quiet through the first 20 minutes, unable to get much going offensively. Despite Blakes’ scoring burst, the U.S. trailed Brazil 47–45 at the break.

Coming out of halftime, both teams traded buckets in a tightly contested third quarter, with Team USA edging Brazil 20–19 to cut the deficit to just one point heading into the final 10 minutes with the AmeriCup title on the line.

Blakes rose to the occasion in the fourth, knocking down five quick points to spark the offense and finishing the quarter with seven. It was a true team effort down the stretch—Grace Van Slooten chipped in four points, Miles added another four, Edwards came alive with seven, and Hidalgo delivered five, including clutch free throws in the final minutes to secure the victory and the championship.

With a perfect record and a gold medal to show for it, Team USA closed out the 2025 FIBA AmeriCup in commanding fashion.
