Ann Obaseki Uwah is a Nigerian media practitioner and entrepreneur who believes that executing knowledge is greater than having knowledge itself.
Speaking about what makes the best talents tick in the entertainment industry in Nigeria, she says, “the key thing I look for is a new entertainment act. Whatever stage the person you signed up for is at, is a seed. Our greatest power is the opportunities we have in the country.
“Not all of us does what it takes to be seen. Knowledge on ice would always be less than ignorance on fire …but the only way to execute is to do one thing before the other”, she said.
She is known for her contributions to the entertainment industry, notably in managing two of Nigeria’s biggest comedians, Basketmouth and Bovi, and actress, Ini Donna Okojie.
Obaseki Uwah is the managing director of Lounge Network, which operates a growing radio station, and the founder of TalentVille Africa, a creative hub focused on talent development.
Born on December 9, in Lagos, Nigeria, Obaseki Uwah is the daughter of Grace Afoma Uwah and Jackson Oyuki Obaseki, with her roots in Edo State. She attended Sunnyfields Primary School and Anglican Girls’ Grammar School before studying Combined Arts at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
Her professional journey began behind the scenes in talent management, where she worked with comedians, actors, and musicians.
She also created Nigeria’s first urban choir. In 2018, she founded TalentVille Africa, a platform dedicated to nurturing creative talent.
Her work extended into film production, notably producing Visa on Arrival, a Nigerian comic television series, in 2021.
In 2023, Obaseki was appointed general manager of Lounge FM in Lagos. Her leadership has been marked by strategic execution, overseeing the station’s expansion across multiple states despite challenges within Nigeria’s competitive radio industry.
Her contributions to media and entertainment have earned her multiple award nominations, including Best Television Series at the 2023 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), Best Comedy Series at The Humour Awards, and recognition at the Nigeria Women Achievers Awards in 2022.
