A man has been arrested after a car was filmed ploughing into Liverpool supporters near the club’s Premier League trophy parade.
Footage shared on social media appeared to show a grey Ford Galaxy ramming into the crowd of supporters in the heart of the city centre.
Several people are understood to have been injured, some of whom are in a critical condition, after the people carrier hit dozens of pedestrians on Water Street just after 6 pm on Monday.
An air ambulance landed at the scene of the crash, with an additional 12 ambulances in attendance.
Police cars and fire trucks have also lined the surrounding area, as officers and medics tended to those involved and controlled bystanders who attempted to break into the vehicle.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Home Secretary Yvette Cooper are being kept updated about events in the city.
Merseyside Police said the suspect is a 53-year-old white British male from the Liverpool area.
The force said: “We were contacted at just after 6 pm today, Monday, May 26, following reports a car had been in collision with a number of pedestrians on Water Street.
“The car stopped at the scene, and a male has been detained.”
A later update added: “We can confirm the man arrested is a 53-year-old white British man from the Liverpool area.
“Extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision.”
Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner Emily Spurrell said a video of the incident was “appalling” and urged the public not to speculate.
She asked users online not to share footage of the crash and to pass any information to the force.
